Fourth Wing ~ Rebecca Yarros

Well, you knew it had to be coming right? This book has been everywhere and so has the sequel. Of course I caved and picked up a copy to read. I am sure this is one of a hundred reviews you have seen posted about it.

Is it earth shattering? No. Is it unputtdownable? Not really. Is it fun and an easy read? Yes it really is.

Fourth Wing is to reading what candy is to eating. It’s a fun little treat but I could not live on it. Very nostalgic for the Twilight mania that happened in my 20’s (just aged myself, ouch)

The world building is really cool, but I have a point of contention that I am going to bore you readers with. The use of the word Fuck shows up A LOT in this book. Which is fine, I’m an adult, I use it frequently. However, this is an issue I have when it comes to high fantasy novels. How do they have that word? What language are they speaking that the same word we use today derived from some old French slang term, would also mean the same thing in their language? Am I pushing too hard? Absolutely. Is it something that continues to pop into my head any time that someone is a “fucking wizard” you bet your f’n ass.

Anyways, it’s a fun slow burn, enemies to lovers, there’s dragons and fighting and blood and death and betrayal. All good things. Can’t hate on it cause I did buy a copy of the sequel. Will I be running to my bookshelf in rabid desire to open its pages? Probably not. I will get to it once I’ve had a break from the brain of a 20 year old woman simping over an average dude (mind you, he sounds hot and can ride a dragon, so get it girl)

I purchased my copy online and if you feel like choosing to support me and my blog – you can grab yours here as well. Thanks bestie!

Quick note – this edition which is limited has a couple extra chapters told from Xaden’s perspective which is kind of fun but really does not add anything to the story that you need to know. Happy reading!
