The Girl From Saint Petersburg by Joyana Peters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After reading The Girl in the Triangle, I wanted to know more about Ruth and what she, her sister and her mother went through waiting in Russia after her father and betrothed had fled the country. This book was exactly what I wanted. It tells the story of how young Ruth has to grow up quickly to survive being left behind by the men, and how she takes charge of the women left behind. I was so struck but her bravery and ingenuity to take care of her mother and sister and to finally get safely out of the country. Once again, Joyana Peters has done incredible research and the facts are given in a beautiful fictional narration that feels like it could be a very true story.
