The Bear Killing Maiden of Hazelfeur, Rhoswen, or as she prefers to be called, the Bearslayer, is charged with keeping her village safe. When spring arrives and brings forth the bear wraiths of a vengeful goddess, it is up to her to keep her people safe.

This book is so beautifully written. I was in love with the lyrical way it was written from beginning to end. The rawness we see in Rhoswen, not only looking to belong, but dealing with her inner demons of anxiety and paranoia, was handled in such an incredible way.

In the beginning I felt a bit confused as we are thrust into a world of myth and gods I don’t know, but the story eventually does play itself out and comes full circle to make sense.

The ending surprised me but I love how everything tied up at the end. I would love to see more from this author, they have an amazing voice.
